Welcome to The Preserve at Verdae! Home for nine years to the PGA Tour’s “Greater Greenville Classic” then known as The Nationwide Tour and now the BMW Charity Classic. This 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course, designed by Willard Byrd, was carved into a lush Carolina Forest with hills and mountain-like brooks making The Preserve at Verdae both scenic and challenging to play.
The Preserve at Verdae is located adjacent to the Embassy Suites Greenville Golf Resort and Conference Center. Our golf facility offers a fully equipped golf shop with the most recent golf fashions. We also offer a large all grass practice range, putting green, chipping and short game practice green, featuring Mini-Verde bermuda greens along with bermuda tees and fairways.
Private instruction from our PGA professionals and available rental clubs are just a few of the extras that we offer at The Preserve at Verdae.

Environmental Efforts
The Preserve at Verdae is committed to the environment. In keeping with our mission statement ‘Striving for Harmony Between Golf and Nature’. We have re-imagined our landscaping along the course and created naturalized areas reflecting tall spreads of native grasses and plants. This in turn allows us to reduce the amount of water, pesticides and fertilizers required and concentrate on the key playing surfaces tee to green.
This unique surrounding landscaping has also resulted in creating an environment attractive to the local wildlife. During your round you may encounter a rafter of wild turkeys or magnificent hawks soaring above the pine trees along with the natural elevated views of our foothills location.
Adam Charles, our recently retired Superintendent for over 15 years and leader in environmental protection, received the 2011 Environmental Leaders in Golf Award Resort Division, presented by the Golf Course Superintendents association of America and Golf Digest.
Another unique feature of our course is the descriptive naming of each golf hole to reflect their unique surroundings. Our natural cedar posts and carved brass signs designate each challenge ahead: Genesis, Sitting Duck, Crooked Creek, Hawk’s Ridge, Rafter, Sulphur Springs, Crossing Creeks, Laurel Creek, Twin Oaks, The Road Hole, Wildflower, Valley, Whispering Pines, Mountain Laurel, Trestle, Red Tailed, Byrd’s Eye View, Fowl Play.
By naturalizing much of the area not impacting play or landing areas, our superintendent has purposefully created a unique look and feel to our course. One that you will not find in many other course layouts and one that may seem unfamiliar at first. Continue to play The Preserve at Verdae and you will find amazing greens, and un-surpassed challenges that will test your game time and again.
You can play golf many places, but only here can you have The Preserve at Verdae experience.
